Owner of Biesanz Stone Quarry in Winona, Civil War Vet. His quarry provided stone to build the State Capitol Building in 1900. During the Civil War he was involved in Sherman's March to the Sea. At the end of the war he was involved in the capture of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and his escort to Washington D.C. His quarry remains in the hands of family.
