James Arthur Nett served as a Technician 4th Grade in the Headquarters Company, 5th U.S. Infantry Regiment, United States Army during World War II.

James was one of the sons of Clarence L. Nett of Louisville, Kentucky. Clarence Nett was the Superintendent of the Gettysburg National Cemetery for several years. He died in 1945 while serving as Superintendent of the Antietam National Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland. He is also interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

He entered active service with the U.S. Army on September 6, 1944 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

He received his discharge from the Army on March 22, 1946 at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on November 30, 1960.

One of James's younger brothers, Private 1st Class Emless S. Nett, is also buried in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

JAMES A. NETT DIED IN SLEEP EARLY SUNDAY

James A. Nett, 51, died in his sleep about 3 o'clock Sunday morning at his home at 150 East Middle Street. He had retired about midnight in his usual health.

Dr. C.G. Crist, the Adams County coroner, said death was due to a coronary thrombosis.

Mr. Nett was a native of Louisville, Ky., and was a son of the late Clarence L. Nett and Mrs. Mollie Nett, Gettysburg R.D. His father was once superintendent of the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

The deceased had resided in Gettysburg for the last 24 years and was employed by the Codori Roofing Company. He was a member of the Memorial EUB Church and of the Albert J. Lentz Post No. 202 of the American Legion. He had served in the Army for about four years during World War II.

SERVICES WEDNESDAY

He and the former Lena Hublard were married 30 years ago.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are these children: Mrs. Gerald White, Gettysburg; Mrs. Joseph Jacoby, Hanover R. 4; and James A. Jr., at home; five grandchildren and three brothers, Wilburn L. Nett, Gettysburg R. 3; Emless, Gettysburg R. 1; and Clarence K., Gettysburg.

Services at the Bender Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Donald Harper, pastor of the Memorial EUB Church, officiating. Interment in the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Friends may visit the Bender Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
