Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dunavan returned last Tuesday night from a trip to Marvel, Ark., where they went the preceding Sunday in response to a message announcing the sudden death of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Dunavan, who suffered a paralytic stroke the day preceding and who passed away that forenoon, about an hour and a half after being stricken. Burial of the aged lady, who lacken but a few days having reached her 65th year, took place in the local cemetery at Marvel Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Dunavan formerly lived in Caruthersville, but for the past five years had resided on a farm near Marvel. Her health had usually been quite good up to the time of her last-- and quite unexpected--illness. She leaves a family of eight children--four sons and four daughters--and of the latter one unmarried daughter, Miss Essie, returned to Caruthersville with Mr. and Mrs. Dunavan and will make her home with them here in future.
The train on which Mr. and Mrs. Dunavan traveled from Memphis to Marvel--on the Missouri Pacific line--was wrecked Saturday evening between Holly Grove and Clarenden, Ark., and they were delayed two hours in reaching their destination.
