Charles Richard "Charlie" Anthony, 80, died at 10:33 a.m. Sept. 3, 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center, following a battle with cancer.

He was born March 31, 1929, in Wapakoneta to Bartholomew and Barbara Pulskamp Anthony, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 12, 1950, he married Joyce E. Behrns, who survives.

Mr. Anthony retired in 1984 as chief engineer from Ex-Cell-O Corp., Lima, where he had worked since 1955. From 1950 to 1954, he worked at Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton, Lima, and from 1954 to 1955, he worked at Lima Design Co. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and a greeter and sang in the resurrection choir. He was a member of the YMCA water aerobics and the Knights of Columbus Council 1272, both in Wapakoneta. He loved woodworking, stamp collecting, gardening, football and basketball.

Survivors also include five sons, Stephen (Margaret) Anthony, of Ohio City, Bruce (Rita) Anthony, of Wapakoneta, the Most Rev. Angelo Anthony, of Dayton, Nicholas (Kim) Anthony, of Springdale, Ark., and Bart (Kim) Anthony, of Wapakoneta; three daughters, Marsia (James) Campagna, of McKeesport, Pa., Andrea (William III) O'Meara, of Eaton, and Colette (Kelly) Knutzen, of Wapakoneta; and 28 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John L. (Gerry) Anthony, of Wapakoneta.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jacob Calkins; and two sisters, Eileen (James) Oen and Mary (Thomas) Maxson.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta.
