The following is her obituary published in the Elwood Call-Leader on Wednesday, March 10, 1982:

"Ethel Layne"

Ethel Collett Layne, 87, 207 N. Washington Street., Frankton, died this morning at Community Hospital in Anderson.

She was born November 1, 1894 in Laurel, the daughter of William and Anna Henan (s/b Haman) Collett. She taught school in Frankton during the years 1914 and 1915.

She was a member of the Frankton Christian Church and a charter member of the Frankton Eastern Star.

Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Jackson of Killeen, Tex., Maxine Todd and Katherine McCarty, both of Frankton, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Jesse L. and a son, Major William J. Layne, both preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton with Revs. Alvin Covell and E. J. Murphy officiating.

Burial will follow at the K of P I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday. Eastern Star memorial services will be conducted Thursday evening at the funeral home.
