Mr. Spellacy, formerly of Marble, a senior member of the law firm of Spellacy, Spellacy & Lano of Marble and Grand Rapids, died Thursday, in the Itasca Memorial hospital
Born in Green Isle, he was a U.S. Army lieutenant in World War I. In 1920 he graduated from the University of Minnesota law school and was president of the class. He practiced law in Marble following graduation and in Grand Rapids since 1965. He was attorney for the villages of Marble, Calumet, and Taconite, and for Iron Range and Greenway township.
He was a chapter member and past commander of the Poppe-Smuk-Appelget Post No. 327, American Legion, a member of the Itasca County , 15th District, Minnesota, and American Bar Association, and for the State Board of Governors for nine years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Grand Rapids Lions Club, and the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are his wife, Mabel, a son, John, of Grand Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Anderson of Bloomington; a brother, Ivan of Minneapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Molitor of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ursula Finnegan and Mrs. Euphasia Larson of Anaconda, Mont.; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Spellacy was widely known and respected in the entire area.
