Mrs. Cora Carson of Ava Succumbs
Mrs. Cora Carson, 90, Ava, a resident of Douglas County most of her life, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the Nichols Rest Home in Mansfield.
She was born Feb. 1, 1879 in Baxter County, Ark., a daughter of Oliver and Mary Jane Hackworth Twitty. She was a member of the Church of God. Her first husband, Charley Gentry, preceded her in death in 1929.
Survivors include her husband, John Carson, three sons, Etcyl Gentry, Milton Freewater, Ore., Orville and Frank Gentry, both of Pendelton, Ore., a daughter, Mrs. Cecil Gentry Harp, Pendleton, Ore.; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Clinkingbeard Chapel by Rev. Ernest Hamby. Burial was made in the Denny Cemetery under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
