He was elected to the Texas State Representative House in 1941, serving three terms from Hood and Erath Counties. He represented Stephens, Young and Palo Pinto Counties from 1955 to 1959. He was a school teacher for 20 years before going to Austin.

He was survived by his wife Eddie and two sisters.
