William Tullis. 76, retired farmer who has lived most of his life in the Merrill, Ia., vicinity, died Friday at the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars. Mr. Tullis was born February 23, 1878, at Peoria, Ill. He married Gertrude Van Dyke, December 27, 1905, at Le Mars. Surviving. are the widow, four daughters: Mrs. Elmer Johnson of Cherokee, Ia.; Mrs. Chris Johnson of Craig, Ia.; Mrs. Donald Lund of Remsen, Ia.; and Mrs. Lilla Nelson of Merrill; three sons: Wilbur and Frank, both of Sioux City; and Lloyd of Hinton; two sisters: Mrs. Emma Price of Anaheim, Calif.; and Mrs. Minnie Hunziker of Uniontown, Kan.; and a brother Frank of Le Mars. Also surviving are three grandchildren. A son, Howard, died in 1911, and one brother and two sisters also preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 3 pm Monday at the First Methodist Church at Merrill. Rev Donald Harbour officiated. The body was taken to the residence Sunday afternoon from the Luken Funeral Home in Le Mars. -Le Mars Globe Post, 8/11/1954
