Funeral services for Joel Adams Tidwell, 84, a retired service station operator, will be held at 2 pm Saturday at the First Methodist Church here. The Rev. C.A. Warden will officiate. Burial will be in Little Bethel Cemetery. Tidwell died Thursday at his residence in Cedar Hill. He was born in Titus County TX. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Willie Jones of Cedar Hill and Mrs. Effie Byars of Vernon, Wilbarger County; five sons, Edgar A. Tidwell of Vernon, Floyd A. Tidwell of De Soto, TX and Lloyd D. Tidwell, Otis F. Tidwell, and Jesse L. Tidwell, all of Cedar Hill; a sister, Mrs. Eller King of Cedar Hill, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Per Dallas Morning News, December 1, 1956.
