John M. Barksdale, 90, died at his home in Dunnellon Monday morning and services were held from the Methodist Church there Tuesday afternoon with interment in the local cemetery. The Rev. John M. Sikes was in charge.
Mr. Barksdale was prominently identified with the West Marion town in the heyday of the phosphate industry and held the office of mayor for twenty years. For many years he served as a Justice of peace.
Surviving are three sons, C.G. Barksdale, Starke, and John M. and William Barksdale, Dunnellon and one daughter, Mrs. J.A. Scroggin, of Dunnellon.
