MORTON, IL - Robert C. DeFreese, 86, of Morton died at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at his home.

He was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Anniston, Ala., to William A. and Eula Belle DeFreese. He married Grace E. Burt on April 7, 1962, in Springfield. She preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2000.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Surviving are one son, Terry (Diane) Breese of Jenison, Mich.; one daughter, Sheila (Walter) Koch of Mackinaw; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Robert was employed at the Caterpillar Inc. Tech Center in Mossville, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Ludwig Mortuary in Morton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Ludwig Mortuary in Morton. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Illinois Chapter in Peoria.
