Born April 28, 1920 in Rittman, she was the daughter of William W. and Mayme (Wright) White.

Mrs. Claeys worked with her husband, August, in his glass business until 1976. She then worked at several social service organizations, most recently as a secretary at Faith Lutheran Church in Kent where she had been an active member. She also was an agent for Anderson Tours for eight years.

She was a member and past president of the Kent American Legion Auxiliary and also served as rehabilitation chair for many years. She enjoyed her 15 years of volunteer work at Brecksville Veterans Administration Hospital, where she was the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio Veterans' Administration Voluntary Service representative for many years. More recently, she had been a volunteer at the County Clothing Center and Coleman Professional Services.

Survivors include her son, James of Akron; daughter, Carolyn J. Goodale of New Jersey; two grandchildren; and brother, Robert W. White of Albany, Ga. Her husband, August H., died May 6, 1996.

Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday service at Faith Lutheran Church, 931 E. Main St., Kent. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are being handled by Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent.
