WEST HAVEN – Ronald J. Read passed away on Monday, August 24, 2009.

He was born December 16, 1929, to William and Araminta Read.

He graduated from Weber High School. After graduating he joined the armed services. Here he was given a unique opportunity to play his saxophone in an Army band.

On February 1, 1951, he married Jean Peterson, in the Salt Lake, LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children. Together they also helped raise Ronald's youngest brother, Dennis, when both parents passed away. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and children. He was a great example to his family.

He worked at Hill Field, Carter's Supply, and Assistant Coordinator at the LDS Bishops storehouse. After his retirement he took up several hobbies. His favorite hobbies were, growing a big garden, leather work, and woodworking. These he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

Ronald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During his lifetime he held many church positions. Including Gospel Doctrine teacher, finance clerk, in the Ward and Stake. High Councilor; a counselor in the Bishopric, and a Bishop. A Stake Missionary, Counselor in the Branch Presidency, and a Temple worker in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Surviving are his wife, Jean and children, Dale (Joyce) Read, Brent (Brenda) Read, Marilyn (Joel) Tubbs, David (Jill) Read, C.J. (Sherrie) Read, 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a brother, Boyd (Darlene) Read and sister-in-law, Judy Read.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dennis Read and one granddaughter.

Ronald wanted to express thanks to Dr. Almony and staff. Also to Marrisa from Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Kanesville Stake Center, 4555 West 4000 South, West Haven. Family and friends may call on Friday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Hooper City Cemetery.
