William was the son of Jacob L. and Martha E. Attaway. He married Martha E. Brock, January 3, 1877, in Carroll County Georgia. In 1880 the family was living in Coweta County and by 1900, William was dead and Martha and the children were living in Jefferson County Alabama, near William's parents. By 1910, Martha and some of the children were in Sebastian County Arkansas.
