Jean grew up and attended school in Murray, graduating from Murray High School in 1945. After attending the University of Utah, she married Clay C. Watts on June 14, 1946. Before the birth of their two children, Jean worked for Auerbach's in Salt Lake City.
After residing in Salt Lake for several years, the family lived in Billings, Montana for a period of time. Upon their return, Jean spent twenty-five years working for Murray State Bank, Commercial Security Bank, and Key Bank as a bookkeeper, teller, and administrative teller trainer. In addition to being a fine mother and a responsible worker, Jean was a seamstress of exceptional talent.
She is survived by her husband, Clay; her daughter, Robyn Newport (Keith) of Woods Cross, Utah; son Fred Watts (Cindy), Arlington Heights, Illinois; two grandchildren, Steffen Watts and Heather Lewis; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Juanita Watts, and sister-in-law Beth Rasmussen plus many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ray Rasmussen.
Funeral Services will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), Murray, Utah, on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family may gather for one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
