They had 11 children; James Washington (1841-1888), John Jackson (1843-1925), ELizabeth B (1845-1928), Lucretia Jane (1847-1929),William Hobbs, Louisa Vashiti (1851-1886), Rebecca Emaline (1853-1888), Vincent Gideon (1855-1936), Oliver Perry (1859-1942), Mary Ann America (1852-1945), and Silas Austin Jr. (1865-1964). Polly died in 1873 at the age of 51, Silas re-married five years later to Marhta ROY (1879). Silas was a farmer in MO all of his adult life. He died in Cedar County, MO at the age of 74. He was buried on the family farm Hobbs Homestead. He was one of the first settlers in the area.
