***I apologize for not noting the name of the person that I got this info from. This was found online on 5/3/2012.
On 22 July 1998, while visiting gravesites in New Woodbury Cemetary, Woodbury, Texas, we found the graves of William Fletcher Cooper. Lying next to him is a William Poe Cooper. We believe this may have been William Fletcher Cooper's father, but we are not sure yet. Since he is buried there, we are assuming he also died in or near Woodbury, Texas. The 1850 Union County census indicates he was born in North Carolina. William Poe Cooper and family do not appear on the 1860 census's of Union County, S.C., Morgan County, Alabama or Hill County, Texas. Information received from Bobby and Lela Cooper on 11/19/98 states that William Poe Cooper is actually buried in Covington, Hill County, Texas. They tell us that about 1965 some drunk family members decided to move the headstone to New Woodbury cemetary where it is today.
