The funeral for Melvin Leon Cline, 88, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Alva Church of God. The Rev. Bob Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.

He was born March 5, 1921, in Dacoma to Mary Pricilla Heady and Floyd Monroe Cline and died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, in Oklahoma City.

He attended Red Bird rural grade school, graduated from Dacoma High School and attended Northwestern State College for three years.

He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater.

He married Carol Eileen German Aug. 2, 1943, in Muskogee.

They made their home in Alva, later moving to Woodward, where he was manager of Hackett Auto Supply for many years. They returned to Alva in 1974.

He was a member of Alva Church of God and served on the church board for a number of years.

Surviving are his wife, Carol; one daughter, Leigh Anne Nobis of Alva; one son, David Cline of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one brother.
