She was born May 13, 1912, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Carrie (Horvei) Swedberg.
Mrs. Abbott graduated with honors from Monmouth College, Monmouth, Ill., and attended Northwestern Graduate School in Evanston, Ill. and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
She taught in a one-room school house before she was married.
Until a month before she died, she still wrote and prayed for many people and sent her small tithe.
She is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Troy) Marion, Scott City, Kan. and Mary (Dr. William) Goodfellow, Geneva, Ill.; sons, Lyle (Carol) Abbott, Basalt; John (Esther) Abbott, Camdenton, Mo.; Richard (Christy) Abbott, Cedaredge; David (Kathy) Abb-ott, Hamden, Conn., and Jon-athan (Leigh) Abbott, Parker and 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Edgar Abbott; her siblings; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service was held May 20 at Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, Kan.
