Big Mike was known as a dynamic band leader, drummer and singer, having inspired many musicians in the entertainment industry to become a great success. His 70's and 80's band, Breeze, featured his brother Pat Bearb on guitar. Kelly Keeling, of Lafayette, was 16 years old when recruited to become keyboardist, guitarist, singer and writer of Mike's Lafayette based band, Warlock. He was also a touring sound man for GG Schinn and The Edgar Winter Group, among many local and international acts. His other bands were Tin Belly and Not Responsible. His last, live onstage performance was in December 2008 at the house of Blues New Orleans with Don Dokken and Kelly Keeling, as percussionist and singer.
He was also an outstanding Cajun cook, who always had his door open to family and friends. He will be remembered as a genuine, caring, gentle and loving man who adopted many as his own family. He will be sorely missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Survivors include one brother, three nieces, one great niece, and one great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Lydia Guidry Bearb; and one brother, Dwayne Patrick Bearb.
