LA CROSSE — Alice C. Erbes, 92, of La Crosse, died Aug. 26 at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse. She was born Nov. 18, 1916, at La Crosse, the daughter of William and Anna Margarete "Maggie" Bender. She married Clarence S. Erbes on Feb. 16, 1936, at Hays. He died Nov. 7, 2004. Mrs. Erbes was a lifelong resident of Rush County. She was a 1934 graduate of La Crosse High School. She was a farm wife and mother.
Mrs. Erbes was a member of the United Methodist Church and of United Methodist Women, both at Bison.
Survivors include two grandchildren, David J. Collins and his wife, Ashley, of Golden, Colo., and Kelly J. Collins of Breckenridge, Colo.; one great-grandchild, Jax Collins, and a niece, Billie J. Klaus of Mesa, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter, Karen Collins (on Dec. 2, 2004).
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, with the Rev. David Bolz officiating. Interment will be at the La Crosse City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Women of Bison.
