William T. "Tom" Bateman, 77, of Route 1, Gallipolis Ferry, died May 20, 1987 in Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant. He was a retired deck hand for Ohio River Co. and was a farmer. He attended Pleasant View Church. He was the father of Anna Belle Stephens of Cottageville. Also
surviving: wife, Charlotte Putney Bateman; daughters, Hilda Henry of Gallipolis Ferry, Nancy Wickline of Jackson, Ohio, Virginia "Dollie" Bateman of Gallipolis Ferry; sons, Richard and William W., both of Gallipolis Ferry; sister, Maggie Rosemond Duncan of Point Pleasant; half brother, Harold of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren. Service was Saturday in Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with the Rev. J O'Dell Bush and Rev. Marlin Campbell officiating. Burial was in Beale Chapel Cemetery, Apple Grove
