Finley, Sarah and their two youngest daughters are living in Kansas at the time of the 1880 census. Some family stories say that Sarah was homesick or that the family was suffering from illness and wanted to return to Iowa. Their daughters Cora and Mary reportedly contracted the measles in Kansas or on the way back to Iowa where they passed away within days of each other. It is unknown where Cora and Mary are buried at this time. Some believe they may have been buried in West Linn cemetery near other Holloway relatives, but the cemetery has no record of their burial.
By 1910 Finley and Sarah are living in Esbon, Jewell County, Kansas where they remained for the rest of their lives.
