Death of Mrs. A.F. Pyeatt.
Mrs. Mary Elba Pyeatt, wife of Mr. A. Frank Pyeatt, died Thursday night, June 10th, at the family home in the Southeast part of Prairie Grove. Although her death was not unepected, its announcement saddened many hearts who cherished her as a dear friend.
Mrs. Pyeatt had been a sufferer for several years from gallstone, and on Monday of last week an operation was performed for the relief of this trouble, and the operation revealed what the physicians had suspected, a more serious trouble: Mrs. Pyeatt was suffering from cancer of the liver. which was the cause of her death.
Mrs. Pyeatt was the daughter of the late Wm.H. Edmiston, and was born in Crawford county, Ark., June 6 1859. While she was a youn girl her parents removed to Morrow, in this county, and in 1885 the family came to Prairie Grove to reside, where Mrs. Pyeatt continued to live until her death.
On Dec. 2, 1885, she was married to Mr. A.F. Pyeatt. To them were born seven children, five of whom survive her. About the year 1880 she was converted and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and retained her membership with that church until April this year, when she joined the Southern Presbyterian church at this place. Mrs. Pyeatt was a devoted Christian woman, loved and appreciated by her neighbors and friends. But it was in the home that her life shone most beautifully, and where she will be so sadly missed, but they mourn not as those without hope, for when the end came death had no fear for her, and she closed her eyes as if in peaceful slumber.
She leaves two brothers and one sister, Charles and J.W. Edmiston of Prairie Grove and Mrs. Ben Shelby of Ingalls, Okla.
The funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Cumberland Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. A.E. Carnahan, and the internment was made in the Prairie Grove cemetery.
