J. C. (Joe) Elder; 57 Died Last Wednesday Joe C. Elder, 57, well known farmer of Boaz, died at his home on Mt. Vernon Road, last Wednesday following a lingering illness lasting several months. The funeral was held at Mt Vernon church, Thursday-Rev. Gardner, the pastor, officiating; Internment in Mt. Vernon cemetery, J. P. Gillespie charge. Deceased is survived by his wife and 10 children, Mrs. Ernie Pace, of Horton; Mrs. Buron Baird, Mrs. Pauline Hales, Rome, Ga; Mrs. Birdie Amos, High Point; Clinton Elder, Argell Elder, Horace, Nellie Joe, Hoyt and Ruth Elder, of Boaz.
