Eldora Alice York Braithwaite Childs, 92, passed away, after a valiant fight with congestive heart failure and diabetes, on May 10, 2005. Eldora was, and continues to be, an extraordinary light to those in this ordinary world. Her dedication to the Lord, her family and her friends was unmatched. She stretched her heart easily to love and serve all around her. Our tears are of sorrow because we will miss her, of gratitude because we are blessed to have known her, and of joy because we know we will be with her again. Born October 21, 1912, in Santaquin , Utah. She married Victor Braithwaite, and later divorced. She married her eternal sweetheart (Bob) on September 8, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on November 9, 1963. Eldora enjoyed singing with many church choirs, helping with flowers at funerals, preparing and serving food at banquets and serving as a visiting teacher for over 60 years. She was always serving her family and recalled fondly that she crocheted a bedspread for each of her three children. She was always full of life and especially loved to dance, play softball, and go fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Childs; her parents, Rolla and Alice (Carter) York; her three brothers: Marvin, Floyd, and Rolla York; and her sister, Ada Olson. She is survived by three children: Gary V. (Marcia) Braithwaite, of Orem; Marlene (Steve) Argyle, of Bountiful; Lynda (David) Broadbent, of Santaquin; 13 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
