BAILEY.
Mr. J. M. Bailey, who had been, critically ill at the Danville and Boyle County Hospital for the Past few weeks, died last evening at seven o'clock. His death was not unexpected, as he had been gradually growing weaker for some time, and all that loving hands and best medical attention could accomplish was unavailing to stay the progress of his malady. Mr. Bailey was in the sixty-sixth year of his age and up until the last few months was actively engaged in various pursuits. He was a native of Lincoln county, but had resided in Boyle since childhood. He was one of the most popular men in the county and for a time took an active part in poltics. He held the office of deputy sheriff for four years and later that of sheriff for four years. His official record was exemplary in every respect and the fearless and just manner in which he executed the duties of these exacting positions won the admiration of all who knew him. He also held the office of game warden for this district at the time of his death. Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, who, before her marriage to him, was Mrs. Anna Watson Warren; one brother, Mr. Thompson Bailey, of McBrayer, Mercer county, and three sisters Mrs. Susan Briscoe, of Parksville; Mrs. George Caspari, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Jessie Ledman Fisher, of Leroy, Ind. The family has the sympathy of a large circle of devoted friends in their bereavement. The funeral services will be held at the residence on Maple avenue on tomorrow (Friday) morning, at 10:30 o'clock, and will be conducted by Dr. II. G. Turner, pastor of the Methodist church, followed by interment in Bellevue cemetery.
