Felix Powell, 68, native of Pemiscot county and a long-time resident of the Cottonwood Point community, died suddenly Sunday at his farm home near Naylor, Mo., apparently of a heart attack.
According to reports received here Mr. and Mrs. Powell were preparing to come home to their farm near Cottonwood to spend the winter and had their car packed to leave. Mr. Powell collapsed as he was fastening a gate and died within a few minutes.
Born at Cottonwood on October 4, 1894, he was the son of Thad and Martha Bader Powell and lived in the area until about eight years ago, when he bought the farm near Naylor and moved there. He still owned land in this county.
Funeral services were held at the Cottonwood Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Floyd V. Brower officiated. Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery, with LaForge Undertaking Company service.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Hattie Powell; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Schwartz of Montgomery, Ala. and Mrs. Martha Thompson of Route 1, City; a son, Robert Powell of near Cottonwood; a sister and two brothers, Miss Ruth Powell and Joe and Oscar Powell, all of this city; and seven grandchildren.
