Martha Brent Maher, born January 21, 1919 in Summit, Mississippi passed away on January 16, 2011. Martha was the last survivor of the nine children of Preston Eugene Brent and Alice Boyd Brent. Martha's late siblings were Julia Brent, Myrtle Brent Harrison, Percy Brent, Alvin Eugene Brent, Dorothy Brent Creagan, Paul Norris Brent, Sybil Faye Brent, and Harold Preston Brent. She and her husband Russell Maher lived in Saudia Arabia for many years. When he became ill, they moved back to St. Louis, Missouri, where Russell passed away. Martha returned to Mississippi and worked for many years for the federal government.

Martha was an outstanding and talented musician. She played the organ for St. Richard Catholic Church and Manhattan Nursing Home. From the time she was a small child she had such an ear for music in any form, classical, blues, jazz or popular, that she very seldom had to look at a piece of music to be able to play it.

Martha is survived by her niece Jan Brent White, nephew Hal Brent, niece Lottie Brent Boggan, nephew Alvin Brent and nephew Charles Ellis Harrison. She was very close to her great nieces, Lauren and Emily White.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to P.A.T.H. Ministry, 582 Bedford Circle, Madison, MS 39110, or Grace Bible Church , 380 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157.

Services were January 18, 2011 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High St. in Jackson. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit.
