Born probably in Northampton Co, PA. He married Elizabeth Fenner c.1816 in Northampton Co., by whom he had 13 children who survived to maturity. With his father-in-law Casper Fenner, he moved to Tompkins Co., NY in 1817. Elizabeth died in 1856 as guardianship papers were filed in the fall for their two youngest sons. Her burial place is unknown at this time but thought to be in Mentz, Cayuga Co., NY, where she and some of her children were residing in 1855.
Meanwhile, Peter had left the family previously, and was living with a wife named Sarah in Orleans Co. in June 1855. He married again in Pembroke, Genesee Co., NY where he appears in the 1860 census with the occupation of "physician" [of some sort or pretense]. He was still living there in 1870 with the occupation of farmer. He moved to the Jonesville, MI area in the 1870's to be with his daughter Elizabeth Kirby. He died from the aftereffects of a broken thigh, which he suffered as a result of a fall from the side of the road.
