Margaret Gillian died April 23, 1909 at her farm home where she spent many years. Her birthplace was Germany, July 4, 1823, coming to America when 7 years of age and locating in New York. Later they came to Noble County. Her first marriage was to George Dosch, who died in 1835 (sic), leaving her with 4 children, Mrs. Clara Arnold Tingle, Mrs. Sophia Bauman, Mrs. Amelia Hess, deceased, and George Dosch of Rome City. In 1857 she married John Gillian. They had 6 children, Charles Gillian, Mesdames, Elizabeth Parr and Catherine Schneider of Avilla, Mrs. Mary Holmes and John Gillian of Kendallville, Mrs. Louise Stager of Fort Wayne. She was confirmed in German Lutheran Church in childhood. Funeral was at Avilla German Lutheran Church Sunday. Burial, German Lutheran Cemetery. She leaves a husband, 9 children, 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Democrat 4-26-1909
