Muskegon, Mich., April 23, The body of Eugene Foote, who was missed from his home on March 16 last, was found today in Muskegon Lake, near Gow & Cambell's saw mill at North Muskegon. The body was in a decomposed state and had probably been in the water since the day the man was missed. Foote lived at Green Creek, about a half mile from North Muskegon, and followed the life of a sailor running a small steamer called the "Wings" between this place and some of the neighboring ports. He was about 40 years of age and leaves a wife and a three week old baby.

the jury which was empaneled this afternoon brought in a verdict of accidental death. An examination of the body showed that in the pockets of the clothing of the man were a pint flask of whiskey, a jackknife, spectacles and case, and a copy of the Grand Rapids paper dated March 16. Foote was last seen on this evening at Mat Gallager's saloon, and at the time he was intoxicated.

Grand Rapids Press, April 29, 1899
