Obituary
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2009 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Mrs. Genevieve Castille Mire, age 78, who passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009 at her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Reverend Salvino Primor, Associate Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Valerie Andrus, organist, will sing, "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", "Ave Maria" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee".
Survivors include one son, Richard J. Mire of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Skie Renee Mire and Stephanie M. Mire, both of Roanoke, Virginia; one sister, Esther L. Castille and a brother, Wilbert C. Castille.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Mire, Jr.; one daughter, Gayle Mire; her parents, Florent Castille, Sr. and the former Elena M. Thibodeaux; a sister, Mae Ann Lormand; her brothers, James N. Castille, Florent Castille, Jr. and Gilbert Castille.
A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Mire was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. She was employed at Corner Pantry Restaurant as a cook for thirty one years. Mrs. Mire loved cooking and entertaining guests and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who will be sincerely missed by everyone.
Pallbearers will be Richard Mire, Johnny Castille, Kenny Vicknair, Florent Castille III, Ronald Lormand and Travis Ardoin. Honorary pallbearers are John Cox and Daniel Castille.
