A truly elect lady, Cleo Royle Webb, 94, quietly slipped from this life to the next on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 surrounded by her family. Her righteous example has left a mark on all who knew her. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. She resided at 2021 South 1175 East in Bountiful, Utah at the time of her death.

She was born April 22, 1915 in Lehi, Utah, the daughter of James Freeman Royle and Lovinia McAllister Royle.

Cleo enjoyed a happy childhood in Lehi where she helped her father on the farm and her mother in the kitchen. She graduated from Lehi High School in 1933. Cleo later attended Brigham Young University.

She married the love of her life, Cecil E. Webb, on January 4, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised their six children while managing a successful jewelry and watch repair business. They lived in Lehi, UT; Mesa, AZ; Provo, UT; Downey, CA; Ogden, UT; and finally in Bountiful, UT. They enjoyed traveling and golfing together.

Cleo was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in many callings, including Ward and Stake Young Women's President, Gospel Doctrine Teacher (until age 82), Relief Society Instructor, Choir Director and many music related callings. Cleo directed one of the choirs that performed at the Ogden Temple dedication where she later served as an Assistant Temple Matron for nine years. She and her husband served a mission to Ecuador and served for many years in the Ogden and Bountiful Temples.

A member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Cleo's love for genealogy and family history has left a wonderful legacy for the generations that follow her. She was an energetic and loving lady, always learning and adapting to change.

Cleo purchased a computer when she was in her early 80's and mastered the world of emails, digital pictures and word processing. She had a love for the scriptures and a deep and certain testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Her children and grandchildren are all trying to follow her example of righteous and happy living.

Cleo is survived by two of her siblings, Josephine Chatfield and Miriam Larsen and five of her six children, VeAnn Gibson, JoAnn (Daniel) Harrison, Richard (Linda) Webb, Celia (Michael) Blackburn and Allen (Lynette) Webb. Her posterity includes 36 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved Cecil E. Webb, her oldest son Cecil W. (Shirley) Webb, and her son-in-law Keith Gibson.
