Mrs. Wetsel was born in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Rev. Peter S. and Elizabeth McLaughlin Thomas.
She was a deaconess and held several offices for the First Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Wetsel also was first president and charter member of the Quota Club of Harrisonburg, a member of the Kensington Garden Club, the first president of the Waterman School Parent Teachers Association; and a past president of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital auxiliary.
On June 9, 1920, she married Earl H. Wetsel, who survives. Mr. Wetsel is chairman of the board for Wetsel Seed Co.
Also surviving are two sons, Nelson T. and Robert E. Wetsel, both of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Marguerite Crist of Timberville and Pauline Cline of Staunton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Friday at Woodbine Cemetery and a memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday at the First Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Donald Fogelsanger.
The body is at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, but the family will receive friends at Mrs. Wetsel's home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the First Church of the Brethren, 313 S. Dogwood Drive,
Harrisonburg.
