The following was shared by Kathie Andrus Smith:
In doing research, I found the story of the Edens-Madden Massacre and also found out that John Edens was married 1st to Lavinia Langford. She died about 1830 in Arkansas or Louisiana. John then married a lady with the last name of Pollett. This lady along with her child Caledonia born 1835 was killed in the massacre. Emily is the daughter of the 1st wife as her birth is about 1822 but she was also killed that horrible night in the Massacre. There is no record of Lavinia's grave site, but it might be best to list her as Emily's mother rather than the 2nd wife, _______ Pollett or "Mrs. John Edens" as she is listed in those killed that night.
