Born in Lakeville, Mass., Mr. Hartling lived in Newington for over 50 years. He graduated from the University of Hartford, and was employed by U.T.C. for 47 years. Mr. Hartling was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was an active member of St. Mary's Church, Newington, and its Legion of Mary. He also served as a Eucharistic minister, and was a former member of the parish council. Besides his wife, Mr. Hartling is survived by three sons, Jeffrey K. Hartling of New Britain, Steven E. Hartling and Alan D. Hartling, both of Southwest Harbor, Maine; two daughters, Judy A. Hartling of Wellsville, N.Y., and Mary Ellen Toce of New Britain; two grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Page Hartling; and a son-in-law, Chris Toce. Funeral services will be Monday, 10:45 a.m., at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
