Samuel L. Morgan, 55, of 226 Sheridan, a resident of this area for 21 years, died yesterday in a Stockton Hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Morgan, a native of Oklahoma, (b. Muskogee) was a boiler man for Tillie Lewis Foods Co., in Stockton the past four years. He was also employed by the former Manteca Canning Co, for seventeen years, and was assistant superintendant when the firm closed about four years ago.
He is survived by his widow, Eunice (Willis), a son Samuel L. Morgan, Jr. of Manteca, three daughters, Debra Jean Morgan of this city, Mrs. Cherylyn Ragsdale of Phoenix, AZ., (dau of Sam & Helen Ramsey, his 2nd marriage) and Mrs Wilma Miller of Fresno, CA (Wilma was a daughter of Eunice and her previous marriage, and was a step-dau.)and his father Henry Frank Vavak of Modesto. (Vavak was a Step-father)
Mr. Morgan was also the brother of Joel Morgan & Mrs. Terrell (Lucille) Keeton both of AZ. Mrs. Amon (Minnie) White of Sacramento. He was a half-bro. to Cecil F. Vavak of Santa Maria, Franklin Vavak of Cupertino, Wilson Vavak of Santa Clara, Mrs. Lorene Cook of Modesto. A step-bro. to Mrs. Evie (John) Hickey, of Muskogee, OK, Mrs. Susie (Monte) Anderson of Modesto and Mrs. Martha Naomi Bradley of Lynwood, CA.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of P.L. Fry & Son Mortuary. The Rev. Ellis Lewis of Manteca Nazarene Church will officiate. Private committal services will be in Park View Cemetery.
