Charles Houston Massey
Charles Houston Massey, of Granbury, went to meet Jesus on December 27, 2011 with his family by his side.
Charles was born on March 18, 1932, he was one of six children born to Jewel and Grady Massey. Charles married Joetta George on April 18, 1953. Together they had five children. Charles served his country in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army. While in the Army he proudly fought in the Korean War. He retired from the military after serving 21 years. He had a degree in Psychology, specializing in mental health. He graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science after which he owned a funeral home in Tipton, Oklahoma. After moving back home to Granbury, he worked in the mental health field and later retired from the United States Postal Service.
Charles and Joetta lost their daughter Susan as an infant. They went on to raise four children and four grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Calvin, Warren, and Don.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joetta; children, Henry (Chuck), Deborah, Barry, and George (Randy); 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Reed and Sheridan Roberson.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for his big smile, his generosity, his love of God and his love of life.
