OBITUARY -- "Sunday afternoon with Rev. C.H. Ray officiating, assisted by the pastor, Rev. N.L. Roberts. R.B. Hood, an old friend of Mr. Baker, will also make a few remarks on the life and character of Mr. Baker. Pallbearers will be George Jones, Wes Carter, J.H. Doss, Tom Hunter, T.R. Erwin and J. H. Clymer. Burial will take place at the Brock Cemetery."
OBITUARY -- Daily Herald, Saturday, January 21, 1939 -- "W.D. (Dick) Baker Dies Friday Night -- W. D. (Dick) Baker, age 78 years, died at his home two miles south of Weatherford at 8 o'clock, Friday night. He had been ill but a few days, but his condition had been critical for three days before his death. Mr. Baker was born in Murray [Maury] County, Tennessee, and moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. [should have been G.W.] Baker to the Long Creek community in Parker County in 1880. The family had since lived in the county continuously and Mr. Baker had residence in or near Weatherford for the past twenty or twenty-five years. Survivors are: his wife and two daughters, Mrs. W.H. Herman, Weatherford, and Mrs. Lee Lane, Fort Worth. He is also survived by three brothers and four sisters as follows: J.R. and George Baker, Weatherford, O.O. Baker, Brazos, Mrs. O.K. Newman, Yuma, Ariz.; Mrs. T.B. Granstaff, Weatherford; Mrs. Lucy Dobbs, Weatherford; Mrs. L.W. Tyson, Lubbock and two grandchildren, L.D. Lane and Billie Ray Herman."
