Bette Slusher McDaniel, age 75, of Manassas,Va., died February 17,2009 in her home after fighting Lymphoma for many years with great faith, strength and grace.
She lived her life loving God, her family and friends. Bette was born in Warrenton, Va. on April 14,1933 to the late Hosea Blake Slusher and Annie Mae Turner, of Manassas. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Helen Slusher Beane and Mary Alice Slusher Jordan. Bette was married in 1954 to Roy Franklin McDaniel, who passed away in 1979.
She graduated from Osbourn High School in the class of 1950. Bette was a life=long resident of Manassas. She worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance for many years and retired from Prince William Farm Bureau. Bette was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church. She served as President of the United Methodist Women and volunteered in the church office being a faithful servant of the Lord. She was a member of the Prince William Home Demonstration Club and former member of the Willing Helpers Club.
Bette loved to send and receive cards. She encouraged and supported many with her countless cards and phone calls. Bette also enjoyed going to the Outer Banks. She enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere with her family and walks along the sound with Sharrons's beloved pets.
She is survived by three children, Randy B McDaniel, Sr. and his wife, Sylvia Tiedje, of Nags Head, N.C.; Candace M. Lamma and her husband, Philip, of Flint Hill; Sharron L McDaniel, of Manassas and Liam Starrs, of Fredericksburg; grandchildren, Kady Anne Norwood, Randy Blake McDaniel, Jr., Emily Christine McDaniel, Morgen Briana McDaniel, Anne Asheigh Paige Lamma; great grandson, Ayden Arrington Norwood, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20,2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Baker Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Rd., Manassas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21,2009, at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. 9750 Wellington Road, Manassas, with the rev. Rudy Tucker, Jr. and the Rev. Meredith McNabb officiating. Interment will follow in the Sudley United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sudley Springs, Va.
