JessieRobert Hill, Jr. was born to (family story) ElizabethGriffin and Jessie(perhaps John) Robert Hill in DooleyCounty, Georgia. Family story tells that his father abandoned the family & his mother died not long after his birth...it is said that his mother's brother, Fletcher/FRANK Griffin brought Jessie, along w/his own daughter & son, to BossierCity, LA, when Jessie was 9 years old. On the 1880 Shelbyville census, Jessie is shown living in the household of a JJ Pounds, and enumerated as a 'cousin' to this JJPounds...also in this same household is a WF Griffin, noted as Father-in-Law of JJ Pounds...It is the belief of this writer that JJPounds was a Son-in-Law to WF Griffin, perhaps the same Fletcher Griffin that brought Jessie in to Texas from BossierCity, LA, and that this JJPounds was married to 1 of Fletcher Griffin's daughters. Jessie married Mary Emma Pigg on August 10, 1890 when she was 14 and he was 25, and they had 8 children, IdaMary(Arthur)Howard, Lizzie(Paul) Willoughby, Dosie(Elzie)Wise, WillieMarshall(JoeBell)Pigg, Robert who predeceased his family in 1901, my maternal grandparents, CoyleBrice, Sr.(CecilGayJones), Beatrice(JohnElvin)Willoughby and Floreat/Floread(JO Smith)...almost all of which also grew to adulthood in ShelbyCountyTX. Jessie and MaryEmma divorced July 2, 1920 and on the 1930Census he was shown to be living with his daughter, Dosie and ElzieWise. His death certificate states that he was a farmer all his life and that he died of pneumonia.
