Tibby was a devoted and faithful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He cherished time spent with family and friends and in recent months, he often commented that seeing them was "the best medicine." Tibby served under Gen. George S. Patton in the 2nd Armored Division as a machinist and French interpreter in World War II. His tour of duty included North Africa and D-Day to Berlin. He worked several years as a mechanic at Capital City Ford and later worked for many years as a machinist at Uniroyal/U.S. Steel, from which he retired. Tibby was active in the B.R. Sportsman League, where he served as president for several terms. He was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Wildlife Federation and also served several terms as president of the organization. As a Scoutmaster at St. Gerard for many years, he shared his love for the outdoors, family life and fellowship with the Scouts. It's no secret to those who know Tibby that he had a lifelong love for duck hunting. In addition to the many hunting trips, he organized and chaired the Louisiana State Duck & Goose Calling Championship for more than 20 years. Tibby was always glad to "call you a duck." Tibby was awarded numerous conservationists awards, including the Arthur Van Pelt Lifetime Conservationist Achievement Award.
