CYNTHIA CUNNINGHAM
---Mrs. Cynthia Cunningham, widow of the late Dr. H.K. Cunningham, died suddenly at her home in north La Plata about 3:00 Friday morning. She got up and went to the kitchen door and called Mrs. R.B. Turner, saying she was sick. Mrs. Turner immediately dressed and went over but found Mrs. Cunningham unconscious. Altho she had managed to get back to her bed, she died in a few minutes without gaining consciousness.
---Mrs. Cunningham was eighty-one years of age on June 25. She was born in Woodford County, Illinois but had been a resident of La Plata for more than half a century, having been a member of the Christian Church here for sixty-six years. She was also the last of the charter members of the Missionary Society of the denomination which was organized thirty-nine years ago. This society had just decided to name a Golden Jubilee bond in her honor. She had also served as chaplain for the Eastern Star for thirteen consecutive years.
---Her will, made two weeks before her sudden death, left her residence and real estate to the local Christian Church, a Liberty Bond of $1,000 was left to Culver-Stockton College at Canton to found the Cunningham Scholarships.
---Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at 11:00 Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. Ralph Campbell of Gibbs. The large crowd that attended showed the esteem in which she was held by the entire community. Interment in La Plata cemetery.
