John W. Davis 69 retired farmer of the West Middle Community, died at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital Wednesday morning at 9:30. He had been in declining health for the past three years.
Mr. Davis was born near Bowman, a son of the late Young and Henrietta Cherry Davis and was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Methodist Church. The Rev. J. H. Eaddy will officiate assisted by the Rev. L.W. Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Ruple, Benton Cherry, Emory Ayers, Laurie Barton, Jervey Ayers and Johnnie Austin.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lila Ayers Davis of Orangeburg; four daughters, Mrs. Bill Geddings of Orangeburg, Mrs. Stacy Kizer of Rosinville, Mrs. Chester Westberg of Charleston and Mrs. Natalie Evans of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sons, Harold, Homer and Johnnie Davis of Orangeburg; one sister, Ada Bozard of Orangeburg; and six grandchildren.
