Eskridge — Glen F. Loveland, 85, Eskridge, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at his home.
    Glen was a barber several years in Eskridge [1920-1930] and later worked at the supply depot in Topeka during World War II. He later became the clerk at the Eskridge Post Office and was a rural mail carrier before he retired in 1969.
    He was born Feb. 24, 1899, in Eskridge, the son of Charles and Dora Ferry Loveland. He was a graduate of Eskridge Rural High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
    He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eskridge and had been active in the construction of the church in 1920. He was a member of Eminence Lodge No. 205, AF&AM, served twice as master of the lodge and had held other offices in the lodge.
    He was Eskridge city clerk 35 years, was a member of the city council, a charter member and past president of the Eskridge Kiwanis Club, and had served on the grade school and high school boards of education. He served as president of the organizing committee of the Eskridge Labor Day Rodeo and worked in every capacity on the committee before he retired.
    Glen was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of Cary Post No. 28 of the American Legion, Eskridge.
    He was married to Grace Beach in 1920 at Lincoln, Neb. She died in 1971. He was married to Ethel Karnes Feb. 3, 1974, in Eskridge. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Virginia Porterfield, Topeka; two sons, Glen F. Loveland Jr., San Diego, Calif., and W. H. "Bill" Loveland, Monahans, Texas; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Helen Porter, Osawatomie and Lemoyne Clark, Kansas City; eight step granchildren; seven step great-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church, Eskridge. Burial will be in Eskridge Cemetery. Mr. Loveland will lie in state until noon Saturday at Austin-Callahan Funeral Home in Eskridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
