Mrs. Skidmore, 86, of Charlotte, died Saturday, August, 22, 2009, at CMC, University.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 25, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hugh Foy officiating. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
Born July 13, 1923, in Charlotte, NC, Mrs. Skidmore was a daughter of the late Louis Mangum Hagler and Maggie Eugenia Mullis Hagler. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mrs. Skidmore was also a member of TOPS for 20 years, where she formed many lifelong friendships. She was an avid walker, and enjoyed flowers and playing golf with her husband and sons-in-law. Mrs. Skidmore also enjoyed many memorable vacations with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Carl Skidmore, her son, William Carl Skidmore, Jr., one brother and four sisters. Mrs. Skidmore will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Earl Coe of Monroe, and Gail and Charles Gregory and Dale and Donnie Odom, all of Charlotte; a brother, Louis M. Hagler, Jr. of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Darlene Skidmore, Jimmy Skidmore, Charlene Skidmore, Brandon Coe and wife, Nikki, Tim Gregory and wife, Artemis, Jill Troglin, Diane Lubbers and husband, Bob, and Brian Deaton and wife, Michele; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association -Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
