Mary Jane Grace passed away at her home on Walnut Street during the early hours of the morning on Thursday, May 18, 2006 after a twelve year long battle with cancer. She was 80 years old.

A native of Jackson, TN, she was born August 9, 1925 to Jessie Franklin Jones and Amelia May Wiest Jones. She was Valedictorian of the class of 1943 at Jackson High School. In 1969 she graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Union University. She served as an RN at Jackson Madison County General Hospital for many years.

A member of East Trinity United Methodist Church all her life, Mary Jane was always active in the church. She was the organist for many years, taught Sunday School, and served on various committees.

She was active in the West Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service's Starlight Club. She is a former member of Jackson Chapter #85 of the Order Of The Eastern Star.

Always devoted to her family, she is preceded in death by her brother, William Henry Jones, and her son, James Gordon Grace.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe Arthur Grace of Jackson, TN; her brother, James Thomas Jones of Jackson, TN her children, Gary Joe Grace of Martin, GA; Jesse Arthur Grace of Jackson, TN, and Wanda Mae Reed of Tampa, FL; nine grandchildren, Steven Andrew Grace, David Michael Grace, Julie Marie Piller, James Philip Grace, Stephen Wayne Grace, Amy Elizabeth Grace, Mark Edward Grace, Martha Jane Reed, James Arthur Reed; and one great grandchild, Lauren Elizabeth Grace.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21st from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons and on Monday, May 22nd from 12:00 noon until the service time at the church. Rev. Glenn Hill will preside at the funeral service at East Trinity United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 22nd with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers to serve are Steven Andrew Grace, David Michael Grace, James Philip Grace, Stephen Wayne Grace, Mark Edward Grace and Stephen E. Piller, Jr.
