SAMUEL O. DAILY
The subject of this sketch was born near Greensburg, in Decatur County, Indiana, October 5, 1850, and died at the home of his brother, Judge C. M. Daily, five miles northeast of Savannah, Saturday, Aug 2, 1902. He came to Andrew County with his parents, Samuel G. and Julian Daily in 1858 and settled on the farm on which he died. He was married December 22, 1876, to Miss Mary Smith and of this union three sons and three daughters were born, five of which are living. They are Mrs. Mary Lauber, Virginia E., Samuel G., Charles F. and W. A. The eldest child, Melissa J. having died in infancy. Aside from his children he leaves a wife and four brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss as follows: Charles M., presiding judge of the Andrew County Court, A. F. , a livestock commission merchant of St. Joseph, W. L., Lawyer at Benton, Kansas, W. A. , capitalist of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Geo. Abbott, of Falls City, Neb. And Melissa Benight of Vories, Buchanan County. All of the brothers and sisters were present at the funeral except Mrs. Abbott, who was too ill at her home to attend.
The funeral was conducted from the residence of C. M. Daily on Monday, by Rev. Clayton and was attended by a large concourse of neighbors and friends. The remains were laid away in the Daily Cemetery beside those of his parents and daughter. Mr. Daily was at one time one of the leading stock men of the county and was well known to many stock men in this section of the country.
